Do what I want you to do, Get a good job for making money. Buy this, buy that. You need a car. That's old stuff, so throw it out. Hurry up. You must succeed But don't move Refuse any change. There's no life beyond the screen. Don't read between the lines. Don't welcome people from outside. Don't be curious. Don't waste your time. Eat this food, wear these clothes. Believe the news, believe in God. Be afraid and close the door. Oh, tell me boy, what's in your head? Stupidity is worse than wickedness. Nowzah! I'm not like you. Nowzah! Ain't gonna follow you. I disagree and know that I'm not alone. Nowzah! You in charge… Nowzah! Stop being cruel! I'll go out and say out loud: I don't accept your rules.

At this stage in my life nothing can conceal the fact that I love you, I'm so crazy for you. You are in my thoughts everyday, Oh, living with you sounds great! But... I think there is something you should know: Please, don't talk to me before my morning coffee, it's the most important rule. I can't have a conversation with you, I'm dozy, woozy, clumsy, still asleep! (Oh, honey...) Stay away from me before my morning coffee, you don't know how grumpy I can be! I take my waking slow, my head is going to explode, I am lost without my caffeine dose! Please, don't talk to me before my morning coffee, That's my advice to you. I can't say anything that makes sense I'm drowsy, moody, grouchy, half asleep! (Oh, darling...) Stay away from me before my morning coffee, My behaviour could be far from best... 'Cause what you say, oh gee, Sounds to me like gibberish. Coffee is the only thing I need. Being with me at night can be a delight, but, babe, I warn you, be safe when I awake!

The Baby Rag 04:08
I can't remember the night I closed my eyes 'till the daylight When I'm falling asleep I hear the Baby Rag Around the "siesta" time The neighborhood is so quiet and calm Me and my gal in a romantic charm And here comes the Baby Rag Telephone's ringin' Doorbell's yellin' The oven's smokin' Always all at once during the bath No break The world could be burning outside But now is my baby time Despite those little details I can't avoid a big smile on my face My heart's beating, I'm feeling alive, When I hear the Baby Rag … Mom, dad, wanna poo, wanna pee, wanna eat, wanna get sleep, wanna play, want a tale… wanna go to bed late.

I'm not a US citizen I don't speak English very well I never celebrate Thanksgiving Day I live so far away from the land of dreams Even so, Mississippi, wait for me (Oh, please...) I always dreamed of goin' to New Orleans How did it take so long to know you, New Orleans? I wonder how I lived without you, New Orleans What can I do? I fell in love with New Orleans I'm just not used to seeing a storm Ain't no alligators where I'm from Things are bigger and newer across the pond It took me time to learn what “The Big Easy” means… But, from now on, Louisiana, here we go! (C'mon! C'mon!) I always dreamed of goin' to New Orleans How did it take so long to know you, New Orleans? I wonder how I lived without you, New Orleans What can I do? I fell in love with New Orleans

Long time ago I had a dream When I was a boy Wanted to dance
 Whirling through life
Stomping in joy But as years went by I grew rather shy Entangled in worries I forgot rhythm N' learnt that life also
Could show a shade of blue So when that day
You came dazzling by And I muttered…"Hi" My feet froze still I'd lost the beat
To take you and fly When I see you dancing
Those dances I owe you When I see you dancing
 Those dances I owe you
I can't but sigh ... Dance, dance, dance,
Dance your pains all right out! Stand, jump, stomp,
Your way through the night Dance, fly! Non stop! Dance, dance, dance,
Dance your pains all right out! Stand, jump, stomp,
Your way through the night Grab life,
And ball it right into daylight … So now I sigh
Remembering the night
You passed me by Where is the boy
That used to dance That used to fly? While there's still music
Is it too late To find the chance? When I see you dancing
Those dances I owe you…
 If I can dance
And regain the joy I just may get by

'Cause I'm a tiny woman they don't take me seriously. Fighting for a leading role since I was a teen. Well-behaved, sweet and quiet, that's how a girl should be. I don't like the saying "No pain, no gain". They say: women must look pretty to feel confident, you need to have a perfect skin and remove all your body hair. Keep your head up, sister! You've been working like a man. If that's what you want to do, just go ahead, and don't depend on anyone. Ain't gonna be a mama Ain't gonna settle down And oh, no, baby, I don't need a bridal gown. Keep your head up, sister! The change is in your hands. Women can be strong. Women can be brave. We're asked to prove our worth but we can't go round alone. You are not in this world to be seen and not be heard. Your man is not your daddy, you can take care of yourself. Keep your head up, sister! You've been working like a man. If that's what you want to do, just go ahead, and don't depend on anyone. Ain't gonna be a mama Ain't gonna settle down And oh, no, baby, I don't need a bridal gown. Keep your head up, sister! The change is in your hands Keep your head up, sister! And never let them throw you down

“Stompin' in Joy” is O Sister!'s fourth release and third long album. It's also the first to include original material. The sextet from Seville, who've always interpreted early 20th Century Swing, have accepted the challenge and incorporated their own compostions in their repertoire for the very first time. These are songs born this year, 2016, but performed with that popular and danceable jazz style that has become their hallmark.

“Stompin' in Joy” is therefore a mix of these new originals with O Sister!'s familiar arrangements and personal renderings of classics from the golden era of Swing. The work shows the sextet has reached maturity. Their sound has evolved towards the original and primitive jazz, Dixieland, increasingly explored by the band since their New Orleans tour in late 2014, which led to the addition of traditional instruments such as the banjo or the washboard.

Eight years of musical exploration added to their experience in New Orleans have given the band a clearly identifiable “O Sister! sound”. This sound revisits the aforementioned genres and takes them a step further with the help of two extra factors. On the one hand, the great skill of producer Jordi Gil at Sputnik Studios in a live recording done the old-fashioned way although exploiting the possibilities offered by present-day technology. On the other hand, the collaboration of excellent guest musicians featuring an extraordinary brass and reed section formed by Juli Aymi (clarinet), Julien Silvand (trumpet) and Josep Tutusaus (trombone), and the indispensible contribution of a regular collaborator at the band's recordings, pianist Ángel Andrés Muñoz.

Such a concentration of talent works well for a record which, in contrast to the 'darker' tones of their previous release “Spooky Sessions” (2014), takes inspiration from the luminous spirit with which New Orleans faces adversity, as uttered in the verse in the song 'The Dances I Owe You': “Dance your pains all right out!”. Joyful music combined with simple and catchy lyrics for their new original songs, ranging from light-hearted daily topics ('The Baby Rag', 'Please Don't Talk to Me Before My Morning Coffee') to the band's ongoing concern for social issues, such as inconformism or the role of women in society in general and as jazz musicians and composers in particular ('Keep Your Head Up, Sister!' and 'Nowzah!').

The dances I owe you': “Dance your pains all right out!”.
